Alex joined YouMail as its CEO in February, 2007. Prior to that, he was the co-founder and CEO of Quack.com, a voice portal company founded in July 1999 that was sold to AOL in August 2000. After the AOL acquisition, he remained at AOL, and was a key member of the team that led AOL's Voice Services division to launch a set of successful voice services, including AOLbyPhone, AOL Voicemail, and AOL Call Alert, that wound up with over 1m paying subscribers and $50m in annual revenue. He is a board member of NeoEdge Networks, a Strategic Advisory Board Member of Jefferson Partners, and a member of the Tech Coast Angels. Alex has a B.A in Computer Science from UC Berkeley, an MS and PhD in Computer Science from UCLA. He is the holder of several voice-service related patents, and has written a series of best-selling computer science textbooks.
