Alexandra is the Co-Founder and CEO of Assistive Labs- a social enterprise focused on collaboratively building quality low-cost hardware for people living with disabilities in emerging markets. Previously, she worked as the Director of Innovation for the World Literacy Foundation. She was responsible for designing, coordinating and managing experts, institutions and partnerships for projects using innovation and technology serving marginalized populations in low-resource and developing contexts. She's worked with Hispanic populations in numerous cities within the US and Colombia. Her main passion is advancing the lives of populations in disadvantaged communities by creating new approaches to learning and education. She has experience in community development, project development, strategic planning, marketing, counseling, crisis management, fundraising and grant writing. Other interests include gender issues, particularly in gender dynamics in conflict and post-conflict settings.

Alexandra holds a Bachelors in Political Science and Public Relations with a minor in French and International Affairs from the University of Florida. She is finishing her MA in Education, Gender and International Development at UCL-Institute of Education in London. Most recently, she served as a ‘Big Ideas’ judge for UC Berkeley in both the 'IT for Society' and 'Mobiles for Reading' categories; placing 1st and 3rd, respectively. For Alexandra, there is no single way to approach a challenge. She believes that only through relevant and progressive initiatives can we pave the way for a mindful society that is both local and global.
