Alán leads an interdisciplinary research group at Harvard University working on problems at the interface of chemistry, physics and computer science. He is interested in how machine learning and quantum chemistry can help design new renewable energy materials and the automatization of chemical processes. He has designed new materials for light emitting devices and batteries. He is a pioneer on the development of algorithms for simulating molecules using quantum computers.
