Carsten is the original developer of CWSandbox, one of the first commercial malware sandbox systems that was later renamed to GFI Sandbox and then Threat Analyzer. He is a pioneer in creating enterprise software for dynamic malware analysis and detection, and is one of the leading experts in this field worldwide. He earned his Ph.D. in computer science / IT-security at the Ruhr-University of Bochum in 2013 and today has more than 20 years of experience in malware research and software design. Carsten has founded several companies, mentored many CyberSecurity startups and regularly presents at academic and industry conferences. Together with co-founder and CTO Ralf Hund, he developed the unique hypervisor-based threat detection technology that is the basis for VMRay Analyzer.
