Born December 26, 1955. A British national, appointed a Non-executive Director of the Company with effect from September 2010.

He was Chief Financial Officer of Rio Tinto plc and Rio Tinto Limited from 2002 to April 2013 and remained a Senior Executive Director of these companies until the end of 2013. Following a period in investment banking, he joined the Rio Tinto Group in 1980 after gaining an MBA at INSEAD.

He has held a variety of marketing, strategy and general management positions, including Head of Business Evaluation and President of Rio Tinto Brasil.

He was a Non-executive Director and the Senior Independent Director of Cadbury plc from 2007 and 2008 respectively until March 2010. While on the Cadbury Board, he served as Chairman of the Audit Committee until April 2009.

He has been a member of the UK Takeover Panel since 2012 [A] and was appointed a Non-executive Director of SABMiller plc with effect from July 1, 2013.
