Hu Liang is the founder and CEO of Ominex, the institutional investment and trading platform for crypto-assets.

Most recently Hu was a Senior Managing Director and founder of the Emerging Technologies Center (ETC) at State Street Bank & Trust. ETC focused on the prototyping of emerging technologies, such as machine learning, blockchain, augmented reality and others. From 2011 to 2015, Hu was in Hong Kong, where he led State Street Global Market’s electronic platforms and State Street Global Exchange’s analytics businesses for State Street Asia Pacific.

A long time Silicon Valley veteran, Hu joined State Street in 2007 through the acquisition of Currenex, the first Internet based large scale eFX (foreign exchange) platform targeting institutions and HFT (high frequency trading) market. He was one of the earliest members of Currenex, designing its automated trading platform and enabling its sale to State Street. Prior to Currenex, Hu was the founder of a failed managed security startup, Forion, and started his career programming at IBM Almaden Research Center.

Hu holds a BS degree in Electrical Engineering from Rutgers University in New Jersey and received his MBA from the Haas School of Business, University of California, Berkeley.
