Jan Uddenfeldt joined the board of GLO AB in 2012. He is one of the inventors and industry drivers for wireless GSM as well as 3G and 4G mobile broadband technology.

He is currently Senior Advisor to the Corporate Executive Officer of R&D at Sony Corporation. During 2010-2012 he was Chief Technology Officer at Sony Mobile Communications (previously Sony Ericsson) based in Silicon Valley.

Previously, he held various roles at Ericsson in Stockholm where he was Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer for many years. From 1990 – 2008, he was responsible for taking several mobile communication technologies such as GSM and 3G from early research stage into commercial success. In 2008 in his position as Senior Advisor to the CEO of Ericsson, he relocated to Silicon Valley to drive Internet network strategies.

He is engaged on several boards and advisory boards of startup companies in Silicon Valley as well as the non-profits boards e.g., Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm and Computer History Museum in Mountain View.

Uddenfeldt got his MSc and PhD from the Royal Institute of Technology. He is a Fellow of IEEE and member of the Royal Academy of Engineering Sciences in Sweden. He has been awarded several prestigious prizes for his achievements e.g., the German Edward Rhein Foundation Technology Prize, the Swedish Grand KTH Prize, and the Gold Medal from Royal Engineering Sciences.
